The first awards contest Volunteer Groups for the conservation of biodiversity
The municipalities of Málaga, Azuqueca de Henares (Guadalajara), Bullas (Murcia), Villacañas (Toledo) and the Diputación de Palencia, have won five first prizes of the first contest of Voluntary Groups Network gives Local Governments for Biodiversity the FEMP.
The Network of Local Governments for Biodiversity has launched this initiative to spread good practice developed from the Local Authorities have joined the Network, which promotes teamwork and policy development in environmental protection and biodiversity, directly involving the public.
The competition has presented a total of 12 projects, all encouraged by the joint collaboration with provincial councils and voluntary groups working environment and develop innovative projects in the protection and conservation of biodiversity in the local environment. Participants in this initiative are children of school age, youth and seniors.
The awards were presented at a ceremony held at the FEMP, the President of the Diputación de Jaén, Moisés Muñoz Pascual, President of TRAGSA, Maria Luisa Granada, and Ignacio Torres, Biodiversity Foundation.
Projects awarded
• The City of Azuqueca de Henares presented the volunteer group program called "Field Trip" that promotes coexistence and exchange between different people concerned about the environment. From altruistic active in their natural environment more immediate improvement of degraded areas, restoration and minimizing the negative impact of human activity on them.
• The Municipality of Bullas, the project "Every Bullens a Tree", has managed to recover several degraded areas of the municipality with the replanting of 6,000 trees of native species, contributing to climate change mitigation and erosion brake. • The City of Manchester has presented various volunteer groups that deal with various subjects, consisting of various voluntary associations, students, schools, environmentalists, etc., Of very different ages. They seek to preserve the territory from various fields such as forestry, planting of various trees, improving habitat for birds and marine biodiversity protection.
• In the City of Villacañas with environmental volunteer group of the Global Nature Fund, conducts activities involving people who are very heterogeneous and different groups, housewives, students, people with intellectual disabilities. This program will have collected a large number of seeds for more than 5,000 plants, with a very high social participation.
Palencia • The County Council introduced the initiative of a group of amateur mycology, called "Girl Guides Association mycological circle of witches," in which people have a place as diverse as farmers, housewives, students or businessmen. In the 52 departures a year performing driving defense and mycological resource conservation, promoting the protection of their habitat and spreading the knowledge of the different species that exist in the province.
