Local police services for rural
The surrounding municipalities of a same region may associate to have local police, and reflected in the Ministerial Order determining the terms of the collaboration that will foster the development of rural areas and expand services to its population.
The Ministerial Order, in the drafting of FEMP has actively worked in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, states that to implement the partnership, municipalities must be adjacent and in a same region, as well as not having sufficient resources separately for the provision of local police services and that the combined populations of the related municipalities does not exceed 40,000.
The text also provides that members serve on the local police service for the association of municipalities "shall be subject to the same basic principles of action, have the same statutory and undertake the same functions as those assigned by law to police force local. "
This Order shall encourage the promotion of sustainable development in rural areas by encouraging municipalities with limited resources can be associated to the provision of a public service.
