Over 3 million for the operation of the Justices of the Peace in 2011


The Council of Ministers has approved an agreement laying down the distribution module to EUR 3,022,790 to subsidize the operating costs of the peace courts.



This credit is provided in the Law of the State Budget for the year 2011, implementing the mandate of Article 52 of the Demarcation Act and Judicial Plant of 28 December 1988. The module for the distribution of grants to local councils is the right population of each municipality. The steps provided are:
 
This Agreement provides that, in accordance with the Law of the State Budget for 1993, the councils of the municipalities members of each of the groups of justices of the peace secretariats (incorporated under the provisions of the Demarcation Act Judicial plant) will receive 50 per 100 of the amount for legal population, they are entitled. The 50 remaining 100 will increase the amount depending on the population of law applicable to municipal headquarters of those groups.

Five autonomous regions
 
The loan approved today by the Council of Ministers shall apply to the municipalities of the Autonomous Communities which have not been transferred the functions of state administration in the provision of material and financial means for the functioning of the Administration of Justice. These autonomous communities are the Balearic Islands, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, Extremadura and Murcia. Shall not apply to the councils of the autonomous communities of Catalonia, the Basque Country, Galicia, Valencia, Canary Islands, Andalusia, Navarra, Madrid, Asturias, Cantabria, Aragón and La Rioja, in accordance with the provisions of their respective royal decrees on the transfer of functions relating to providing material and financial means for the functioning of the Administration of Justice.
 
The content of the agreement has been reported favorably by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces and the Directorate General for Local Cooperation, Ministry of Territorial Policy and Public Administration.
 
The Agreement shall be published by Cabinet Order, after which the Ministry of Justice, through the Directorate General of Treasury and Finance and through the mass payment system, refer such grants to the municipalities affected.
