The FEMP invites local governments to commemorate the Day of Volunteering
The FEMP has provided local governments a motion in which they are invited to celebrate International Volunteer Day this Sunday, December 5. In the text, approved by the Executive at its last meeting, calling the public expression of commitment to solidarity and support to the work of volunteers.
It calls on local councils to call the citizens of each municipality to participate in the activities planned that day and, by extension, all to be convened during 2011, European Year of Volunteering. It also expresses the recognition of local governments to the work of hundreds of thousands of people who would selflessly dedicate their time and expertise to help others in various activities.
On 5 December was declared International Volunteer Day by the United Nations General Assembly.
