Local governments seek the involvement of the CCAA in the conservation of biodiversity
The regional administrations have to be at the debate on biodiversity and work with local governments in the policies for municipalities to preserve and enhance biodiversity in the various territories. This was stated by the President of the Network of Local & Biodiversity 2010, Maria Antonia Perez, in the closing ceremony of the Conference held at the Real Sitio de San Ildefonso-La Granja, in the framework of the V Assembly This Network of FEMP
A position that is shared by the Mayor of Santander, Iñigo de la Serna, who in this same act has claimed the leadership of the Network, which is Vice President, while underlined the need "to bring" to the representatives autonomic discussion forums organized to discuss and plan the policies on this matter.
The President of the Network and the Provincial de Guadalajara said that biodiversity must take to the field of decisions, ie the territory of local governments, acting transverse to the other policies that apply. "You have to channel into a link between nature and society," he said later, "and the best vehicle is the Local Governments."
Iñigo de la Serna, meanwhile, called for greater attention to local councils and the other administrations to get involved and be responsible with the management of those in preserving biodiversity. Santander Mayor recalled that biodiversity is not the policies that need more money, but that does not mean that more resources are needed.
The Mayor of the Royal Site of San Ildefonso-La Granja, José Luis Vázquez, host of the Conference, conveyed the need and the opportunity of seeking alliances with all actors that can contribute something on biodiversity and, specifically, said also to be reckoned with business and seek their co-responsibility for the policies and actions to be carried out to conserve natural ecosystems.
Bio & Life Awards
The Local Government Network + Biodiversity 2010 gave out the awards to the winning projects I + Bio + Life Competition, organized to recognize the initiatives undertaken in schools in the municipalities adhered to the Network to promote training and awareness conservation of biodiversity.
The winning projects were the sponsored by the municipalities of Camargo (Santander) and Jaén, in the first category of primary and early secondary courses; de Leon and Santander in the second category of sites 3 and 4 of compulsory secondary education high schools and vocational training courses and degree courses, and the Diputación de Jaén and the city of Malaga, in the third category of educational centers for adults.
