The FEMP called to the councils commitment to gender equality
The FEMP has called on local governments to join the commemoration of March 8, International Women's Day, with events to raise awareness and approval of statements that reflect the local commitment to gender equality policies.
To this end, the Federation has proposed a "Declaration for adoption at plenary sessions, if considered, in which a call is made that commitment and invites reflection on the" long and complex "that has been necessary go before the effective incorporation of women into different spheres of political, social and employment on equal terms.
The article argues, however, still requires action in areas such as promoting the representation and participation of women in Local Government or the incorporation of equality as a crosscutting theme in the "all work areas of city councils and provincial councils. "
In the Declaration, the FEMP finally reiterates its determination to intensify cooperation activities with all public institutions and social partners to combat the manifestations of discrimination and promote real equality initiatives.
