FEMP valued very positively the announcement of Chaves adopt new laws of Local Government and Finance for 2011
The President of the FEMP, Pedro Castro, has been very positively assessed the announcement of the Third Vice-President and Minister of Land Policy, Manuel Chaves, that in 2011 Spanish Local Governments will have a new legal framework and competence and a new funding system.
Manuel Chaves has expressed this commitment from Government during his appearance before the Committee of Regional Policy of the Congress of Deputies, held this morning. The Vice President has confirmed that the Government's intention is to adopt the Draft Basic Law of Government and Local Administration, as the new Law on Financing of Local Revenue, which will ensure adequate financing of local entities, so they can begin implemented in 2011.
Pedro Castro sees this announcement in Parliament, represents a firm commitment from the government and the increasingly real possibility that the aspirations of local governments will finally fulfilled.
The President of the FEMP has requested that, after this test the Government's firm commitment to realize the demands of the municipality, the political parties also give the size and put to work for the two laws were adopted in the time allotted and in addition, be responsible and achieve the broadest consensus possible.
