Grants for the purchase of electric vehicles
The Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade has announced the direct concession of subsidies to buy electric vehicles throughout 2011. The total budget for subsidies, which may also benefit other municipalities and public authorities, amounts to 72 million euros and is part of the Comprehensive Plan to Promote Electric Vehicle in Spain.
The grants will fund the acquisition of new electric vehicles "that is, those whose power comes wholly or partially propulsion, electricity from its battery, charged through the grid," according to Royal Decree quote governing the grant and appears published in the Official Gazette of May 10.
The purpose of this aid, the deadline for applications is November 30, except exhaustion before the date of the funds provided, "is to facilitate and encourage the development of electric mobility for what it means for greater environmental sustainability transport, improving energy efficiency and pollution reduction.
Municipalities and other state authorities and companies or entities that are considering public state, regional and local levels, may be eligible for the subsidy. May also be natural persons and private entities with legal personality.
The grants apply to passenger cars, vans and trucks, buses and coaches in various categories, quads and motorcycles. As for the amount thereof, subsidies for cars, motorcycles, trucks and quads, will be 25% up to maximum amount is ranging from 2,000 to 6,000 euros, depending on the electric-only range of vehicles. For minibuses and vans, the grant will also be 25% up to € 15,000 and provided that the autonomy of 60 miles, also is 25% for buses and coaches, to a maximum of 30,000 euros with a range of 60 kilometers.
